Shepherd’s Promise

Shepherd’s Promise is weekly religious education for students in Grades K–8 (5 years old by June 1), geared for children who attend public schools, charter schools and those who are homeschooled.

We use the Word of Life curriculum that was developed by the Augustine Institute and Loyola Press.  It blends the Old Testament heritage with New Testament revelation, so that children can learn the roots of our Catholic faith and make connections between the two.   There are opportunities for meditating on scripture through Lectio Divina, sacred art and the saints’ lives at every grade level.  There is also an emphasis on the virtues, and learning traditional Catholic prayers. In addition, we have special events throughout the year: a student-led mass, a Living Rosary, Advent Wreath lighting and Living Stations of the Cross.  The kids also  do drama to act out and learn about the Annunciation, St Juan Diego & Our Lady of Guadalupe.
