St. Thomas More is seeking a faith‑filled, mission‑centered Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Coordinator to guide, form, and shepherd our Level I–III atria. Rooted in the life of the Church and the Montessori tradition, this ministry invites children into a profound encounter with the Good Shepherd. The coordinator will provide prayerful leadership, thoughtful organization, and pastoral care so that every child may grow in holiness, wonder, and intimacy with Christ through the CGS method.

Hours:

This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position with variable hours, including evenings and weekends as required. The position is not eligible for overtime. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and parish guidelines.

Essential Duties:

The Coordinator plans, coordinates, and oversees the parish’s Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program in fidelity to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd methodology and Montessori principles. The position ensures that atrium spaces and materials are properly prepared, maintained, and used according to established standards, and that environments remain prayerful, orderly, and developmentally appropriate.

The Coordinator coordinates catechetical schedules, enrollment processes, program records, and ongoing communication with parents and families, and serves as a liaison among catechists, parents, parish staff, and parish leadership to ensure clarity and collaboration.

The Coordinator oversees parish childcare services, including scheduling and supervising childcare workers and volunteers, ensuring appropriate adult-to-child ratios, maintaining safe and welcoming environments, and communicating policies clearly and pastorally with families.

The position ensures compliance with Archdiocese of Denver Safe Environment policies, maintains required records, follows established emergency procedures, and collaborates with parish staff regarding facilities usage and scheduling.

Requirements:

The Coordinator must be a fully initiated Catholic in communion with the Catholic Church, intentionally living the five precepts of the Church, and conducting themselves in a manner consistent with Catholic doctrine and morals.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I certification is preferred. Experience working with children in structured educational, catechetical, or childcare settings is required. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time-management skills are essential.

The Coordinator is responsible for scheduling childcare workers for parish programs and events, purchasing and maintaining necessary catechetical and childcare materials, and providing appropriate resources to support Catechesis of the Good Shepherd catechists. The position also includes responsibility for the weekly setup, preparation, and organization of the atrium to ensure a prayerful, orderly, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
