MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREATS
Just as Jesus needed to retreat and change His scenery to worship at His best sometimes, we too can benefit from getting away for a while to truly focus on God’s words to us and our hearts.
STM Middle School Youth Ministry offers four retreats per year—some local or on-site, and some in farther destinations. Retreats are some of the most powerful experiences proclaimed by participants, and we invite you to a similar journey to grow closer to the Lord.
Fall (October). 6th-8th grade.
As the autumn leaves change with the season, so we too spend time away from the craziness of everyday life by reflecting on ways to die to ourselves. As we shake off the distractions, we instead invite a renewal in Christ.
Spring (February – typically President’s Day Weekend). 6th-8th grade.
Living up to its name, this retreat is the most anticipated retreat of the year! Over one-thousand Middle School youth from the Archdiocese of Denver gather on President’s Day Weekend at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO (about two hours away from St. Thomas More). This is a powerful weekend of high energy speakers and activities, dynamic worship and adoration, and a memorable mountain-top experience to ignite and fan a passion for Jesus Christ to be cherished and lived in our everyday life.
Spring (Typically Palm Sunday Weekend). 6th-8th grade.
As we approach Easter, we spend time in fellowship examining our Lenten experience and reflecting on ways to carry out our growth in this season to be continued and celebrated with the rising of our Lord. This retreat is on-site in the St. Thomas More Catacombs. We conclude with our parish Palm Sunday walk and attendance at the 5:30pm Mass.
Life With a Mission
Summer (June). Incoming 6th-12th grade.
There is no better way to bring in the summer than with our heart set on a special mission in Christ, and the momentum to live it out! All Middle and High School youth are invited to this week-long retreat that takes place at St. Thomas More in mid-June. We kick-off on Sunday evening with the 5:30pm Mass and dinner together. Then, we spend the next few evenings breaking into scripture and fellowship during our theme nights. We conclude this roller-coaster of a week on Friday with our optional day-trip to Elitch Gardens! We’re in for a week of fun and games, praise and worship, vibrant talks, and more.
