Christ is in our midst when we gather together as a community of believers to share our gifts, experiences, enthusiasm for the gospel, and the values of our faith life, in order that these treasures might in word and deed be passed on from one generation to the next. Therefore, we strive to provide various programs, educational experiences, events, and social opportunities for the youth of St. Thomas More Parish in order to bring our youth to a living faith life. We walk with our youth so they may develop the skills to grow in the life of the Church and express those values in their every day lives, now and in the future.
Meet Your Youth Ministers
Mr. David Tschumper
David missed being a native of Colorado by 4 weeks. He has been a member of St. Thomas More since 1976. David graduated from Cherry Creek High School and the University of Northern Colorado. He was very active in youth ministry at STM as a high school student and went on to be involved in campus ministry at UNC. During his junior year of college, he received his call to youth ministry after attending a concert by the Christian band Petra. He soon enrolled in a youth ministry certificate program through the St. Thomas Seminary. After graduating from UNC in December 1991. He was hired as the full time Youth Minster at St. Thomas More in March of 1992 and has been serving as the Director of Youth Ministry ever since.
During his tenure as the Director of Youth Ministry, he has created and enabled many youth programs and events, including: Journey to Life Retreat, Peace Hut Retreat, Servant Leadership Weekend, Guppy Fest Youth Rally and Dance, and Project 600 Christmas Party. He has traveled with youth to 6 continents for World Youth Days and mission trips. With all of that, his favorite part of youth ministry is getting to know the youth more deeply and watching them grow in their relationships with each other, the Church and the most Holy Trinity.
Ms. Cheyenne Secor
Cheyenne was born in Colorado Springs and grew up in Highlands Ranch. She has been a member of St. Thomas More for almost 9 years, since her freshman year of high school. She was involved in the STM youth group while she was in school, and by the end of her senior year of high school, she had been on six service trips and over 20 retreats – as a participant or on a team. Cheyenne also interned in the youth department at both Pax Christi and here at STM.
Cheyenne has had deep passion for youth ministry and loves working with both high school and middle school youth. One of her favorite things about being a youth minister is being able to see teens grow in relationship with Christ and build foundations for lifelong faith journeys.
Cheyenne is inspired by the true beauty in being able to take inspiration from the church, other youth ministers, diocesan/parish employees, volunteers, and teens! She is excited to be able to learn and grow from/with every person who she interacts with as a youth minister.
Ultimately, Cheyenne finds it a great blessing to give back to the parish that made her who she is, and keeps her goal in mind: to reach Heaven, and bring as many people with her as possible.
Mr. Greg Johnson
I’m Greg Johnson, Middle School Youth Minister at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish. I was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. I was involved with youth ministry here at STM during middle school and high school. I was a student in our parish school from 4th to 8th grade; then I went on to Regis Jesuit High School and Benedictine College, graduating in 2010 with degrees in Theology and PE with an emphasis on coaching. I am so blessed to work at STM in the Youth Ministry Department. This youth ministry – and the people involved – made such an amazing impact on my life; now I have the great privilege of being a positive influence for today’s youth, leading them closer to Jesus Christ and His Church.
