Christ is in our midst when we gather together as a community of believers to share our gifts, experiences, enthusiasm for the gospel, and the values of our faith life, in order that these treasures might in word and deed be passed on from one generation to the next. Therefore, we strive to provide various programs, educational experiences, events, and social opportunities for the youth of St. Thomas More Parish in order to bring our youth to a living faith life. We walk with our youth so they may develop the skills to grow in the life of the Church and express those values in their every day lives, now and in the future.
Meet Your Youth Ministers
Mr. David Tschumper
David missed being a native of Colorado by 4 weeks. He has been a member of St. Thomas More since 1976. David graduated from Cherry Creek High School and the University of Northern Colorado. He was very active in youth ministry at STM as a high school student and went on to be involved in campus ministry at UNC. During his junior year of college, he received his call to youth ministry after attending a concert by the Christian band Petra. He soon enrolled in a youth ministry certificate program through the St. Thomas Seminary. After graduating from UNC in December 1991. He was hired as the full time Youth Minster at St. Thomas More in March of 1992 and has been serving as the Director of Youth Ministry ever since.
During his tenure as the Director of Youth Ministry, he has created and enabled many youth programs and events, including: Journey to Life Retreat, Peace Hut Retreat, Servant Leadership Weekend, Guppy Fest Youth Rally and Dance, and Project 600 Christmas Party. He has traveled with youth to 6 continents for World Youth Days and mission trips. With all of that, his favorite part of youth ministry is getting to know the youth more deeply and watching them grow in their relationships with each other, the Church and the most Holy Trinity.
Mr. Greg Johnson
Hello, I’m Greg Johnson, one of the Middle School Youth Ministers at St. Thomas More Catholic Parish. I am also from Denver, Colorado – I was born and raised here, and I was involved with youth ministry here at STM during middle school and high school. I attended school here at STM from 4th – 8th grade, high school at Regis Jesuit and graduated from Benedictine College in 2010, majoring in Theology & PE with an emphasis on Coaching. I am so blessed to be back at STM working in the youth ministry department. The youth ministry program and the people involved made such an amazing impact on my life; now I get the great privilege to be a positive influence to the youth that are involved and lead them all closer to Jesus Christ and His Church.
Ms. Hannah Smith
Hannah is a native of Colorado, and she is the third oldest of twelve children. Hannah attended All Souls Catholic School from preschool to eighth grade and then attended Bishop Machebeuf High School. Following high school, she began studying nursing at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota; in time, Hannah realized that she wasn’t called to that particular career. When discerning which major she should try next, she received a strong call from the Lord to serve Him and His Church as a Youth Minister; upon receiving this call, Hannah decided to change her major to Theology. It was through this discernment that Hannah began to fall more deeply in love with Christ and recognize the beauty of the Sacraments while also fostering a deep devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. Hannah graduated from the University of Mary in the Spring of 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology and a minor in Catechesis and the New Evangelization.
