You’re Invited to Contribute to the Worldwide Synod!

A synod is when the diocesan bishop (Archbishop Aquila) consults with the faithful of his diocese (us) or the pope consults with a group of bishops on a given question. We are privileged to be invited to participate in the worldwide Synod of Bishops in 2023.

During Advent all parishes of the Archdiocese of Denver participated in an Advent Retreat. We took time for prayer and reflection on four topics that speak of the kerygma, or Good News: Created, Captured, Rescued and Response.

Our Advent Retreat intention was to help prepare us for the next step: The Parish Discernment Gathering. This is one of the first steps of our Archdiocesan Discernment Process which is part of the preparation for the worldwide Synod of Bishops in 2023.

You may remember at one point in our Advent Retreat, we heard a quote from Fr. John Riccardo saying each one of us are created to be here, at this very moment for a reason.

Consider that being part of this Synod, as a participant in one of the Parish Discernment Gatherings at St. Thomas More, may just be one of those moments you were created for.

Come, pray with fellow parishioners, listen to the Holy Spirit speaking to you, share what you have heard with others in a small group and know that you will be part of something powerful as a member of the universal Catholic Church!
