Blessed Maria Candidae of the Eucharist

Feast Days: June 12
Time Period: 1884-1949
Patronage: unknown

Maria, a Carmelite nun, was drawn to the Eucharist at a very early age. When her mother returned home from Mass Maria rushed to meet her crying, “I want God too”. Her mother would softly breathe on her lips and Maria would place her hands across her chest, full of joy and faith in receiving God. As she matured her love of Christ developed into a vocation for the Eucharist. The Eucharist dominated her spiritual life and her relationship with God. For Maria the Eucharist was a school of virtue and wisdom, a food and an encounter with God,a coming together of hearts. After months of suffering Maria died in 1949 on the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity.
