FAITH & FAMILY

What is Faith & Family?

Saint John Paul II taught that the prime religious educators of a child are their parents. Parents are called upon to implement Christian values in the daily life of their family. They play a significant role in establishing the foundation of a child’s spiritual development.

Faith & Family is a weekly program at the parish for all ages, including families and singles. Two of the classes are on site here at STM and the other two classes are assignments taught at home. Adults attend speaker-led presentations, children receive classroom instruction, and childcare is offered to toddlers. The program provides opportunities to celebrate liturgical seasons throughout the year.

Children prepared almsgiving cards for local food banks.

Train the young in the way they should go; even when old, they will not swerve from it.

Our Mission:

To partner & enhance the parents’ efforts in their child’s faith formation at home. The program supports the parents as the primary educators of their children. The onsite support classes are designed to allow parents to be with other adults. The curriculum provides catechesis, experience and personal witness which builds upon the initial instructions of the parents. The children and their peers, along with their catechists focus on helping them take the first steps on their journey of faith through prayer, bible stories, arts and crafts, and music.

It is through the integration of home and religion class that Christian love can flourish, and therefore, the foundation of Faith & Family was created. It reinforces the importance of learning the teachings and traditions of our Catholic faith in a group setting which allows each family to grow in the church community. Faith & Family is for the entire family from ages 3 years old through adults. It is not limited to the immediate family – grandparents, aunts and uncles are also welcome!
