The U.C.

The U.C. meets on Wednesday nights, from 7:00-9:00pm.  All high school juniors and seniors are welcome to join us, both Catholic and non-Catholic.  The goal of The U.C. is to go deeper into living the Catholic Christian life, through Scripture, talks, discussions, and leadership.  But don't worry: we know that becoming a highly mature upperclassman doesn't make you automatically boring, so we still play fun games like Capture the Flag and Flag Football.

For the Spring 2008 Semester:
Join us as we embark on an 8-week Scripture series, along with LIFE TEEN's Mark Hart, the Bible Geek!  There is a study book that goes along with the series; the book costs $10 and we highly recommend that you purchase one (you can get it through us).  This is a great chance to dive deeper into Scripture and your Catholic faith!

Breakaway

Breakaway is open to all high school underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores).
Both Catholic and non-Catholic youth are welcome.

Meetings are held on
Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:45 pm in the Youth Center.

The purpose of Breakaway is to provide Christian, social, educational, spiritual, prayer, and service experiences to the high school underclassmen in this community. We will have a lot of adventures and great discussions!

Activities consist of talks, guest speakers, small group discussions, videos, music, prayer, games, and much more.

Why the change??

For the first year, high school youth ministry is offering youth group two nights a week - Sunday nights for freshmen and sophomores, Wednesday nights for juniors and seniors.  In past years, our upperclassmen have become less and less interested in Breakaway; they're ready to go deeper with their faith, and Breakaway is more of an introduction to Catholic life.  We wanted to spiritually challenge the upperclassmen, as well as to focus on some of the issues that face them (such as college decisions).  Splitting the groups also allows us to cater more specifically to the underclassmen.  More importantly, as a result of this change, all freshmen and sophomores are now invited to mentor the 6th graders at Crossfire on Wednesday night (click here for details).

Sunday will continue to be called Breakaway, whereas the Wednesday night program for the upperclassmen will be called The U.C.  Change is always a little difficult at first, but we are excited for this new plan for STM High School youth group.  We trust that, with the grace of God, it will be a huge blessing to everyone in the long run!
