Vacation Bible School is a week-long experience children absolutely love! We study a Scripture story each day and rotate through centers which include Crafts, Music, Story, Games and of course, Snack.
We will have VBS again next summer. Classes are available for children going into PreK through 5th grade. PreK children need to be 4 by July 1, 2013. All others are assigned classes by the grade they will be going into in the fall.
The themes to choose from this year are all exciting! As soon as it is chosen, it'll be posted here. Each day's events will run from 9am-12:30pm. Classes and centers are all located in the Evangelization Center (school) building and around the St. Thomas More Church campus. Tuition for the week includes their t-shirt, but the materials fee has not yet been set for 2013.
This over-the-top adventure is a hallmark of our church. Families even plan their vacations around VBS to ensure their children's participation. Come see what all of the excitement is about! Be a part of VBS 2013! Registration will begin April 2013.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are always needed, especially adults. Volunteering for the entire week gives adults free tuition for one of their children. A great incentive, but most volunteer for the sheer joy of the experience. Volunteers also have access to Child Care for younger children. Adults can either work with a specific class or can lead a team responsible for a center.
High school volunteers can work either for service hours or for tuition for a younger sibling. High schoolers can also lead a class. They are allowed to lead a center if they have prior experience working VBS@STM and have demonstrated competence and responsibility. (Please note: Some of you have volunteered late and not had your prefered place available. If you have something specific you want to do, volunteer EARLY - like in April or early May.)
Middle school volunteers get service hours. Their volunteering does NOT qualify to get a sibling free tuition. Middle schoolers can work in either a center or a class. They will always be paired with someone older. The hardest part is to transition from being one of the ones who gets to participate and make things, to being one of the workers - helping the students with their activities. Exceptional 8th graders have been given more responsibility and my, how they have shined! (Middle schoolers also need to register early - April or May - to be placed where they would prefer to work.)
