Welcome to 1st Trimester Art Program with Mrs. Sidley-Parker Art Projects:
Kindergarten Class:
Kindergartners will be introduced to different art media and tools. Students will begin drawing and painting concepts from the elements and principles of design. There will be an introduction to several famous artists and general art history.
1st Grade Class:
1st graders will continue to explore different art media and tools. Students will continue to add on to drawing and painting concepts from the elements and principles of design learned in kindergarten. Students will focus on line and pattern with drawing and painting. Texture will be explored through beginning sculpture techniques. Students will learn about several famous artists and general art history.
2nd Grade Class:
2nd grade art students will continue to add on to elements and principles of design concepts learned in 1st grade. Students will learn more about how to work with line in drawing and painting. Concepts of shape and color will be taught. Students will explore beginning landscape concepts. Students will learn about several famous artists and the art history of Japan.
3rd Grade Class:
3rd grade art students will continue to study the elements and principles of design through line, collage, texture, and beginning printing techniques. Students will learn about several famous artists and Impressionistic art history.
4th Grade class:
4th graders will continue to study the elements and principles of design with an Italian Renaissance unit teaching: porportion in a human portrait drawing, texture through collage, one-point landscape perspective, painting using primary and secondary colors, and the concept of form through Renaissance hat designs. 4th Grade Class will have a Renaissance celebration with parents. Art students will also work with shading and overlap drawing techniques. Students will learn about several famous artists and in depth Italian Renaissance art history.
5th Grade Class:
5th graders The elements and principles of design will continue to be added on to from 4th grade with a focus on color concepts and sculpture techniques with paper and plaster of paris. Students will learn about several famous artists and general art history.
6th Grade Class:
6th graders will continue to add on to the study of the elements and principles of design from 5th grade with a focus on contour line and value drawing. Students will be introduced to graphic design drawing techniques, and will sculpt 3-d clay reliefs of Medieval castles. Students will learn about several famous artists and art history of the Middle Ages and China.
