School Art Program Expectations:
- Meet the Archdiocese of Denver art education curriculum standards kindergarten-8th grades
- Cover a broad variety of artistic mediums in the following art areas: two/three-dimensional design, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textile arts, computer generated art
- Interweave art production, criticism, appreciation, world cultures and artists in art history into core interdisciplinary academic subject
- Teach art experiences through the elements and principles of design, which provide the foundation of visual art studies
- Teach each art project/unit in 2-8 experiences, based on ability level
- Sequence art knowledge in an age appropriately manner
- Demonstrate for students two to three art concepts, skills and activity being taught
- Guide each student in the creation of their own art
- Enrich the art curriculum with many visuals such as videos or dvds, posters, slides, props, costumes, books, Archdiocesan and state of Colorado art shows, guest speakers
- Encourage family museum and gallery visits
- Display student artwork outside my classroom
- Send home art work shortly after completion
