St. Thomas More Parish School Enrichment Center

(formerly the AAEC)

The St. Thomas More Parish Enrichment Center provides academic support to our students in grades K - 8.  Concepts taught in the classroom are reviewed and extended upon when students study at the Center.  Materials may be provided by the teacher or chosen by the Enrichment Center.  The time needed to empower the students in their academic growth is utilized to its greatest extent.

The Center gives attention to small groups during the school day.  At these times children are tutored and assisted in all areas of academics.  In addition to time spent studying at the Center, students are supported in the whole class setting as requested by the teacher.

The Enrichment Center also provides assessment services for the students at STM. When students are accepted into the school, an entrance evaluation is given so that teachers may know where to start to best serve the child.  Other evaluations are given at the teacher's request.  The  Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy Skills (DIBELS) and the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) are two types of language arts assessments provided.  Orton-Gillingham and Lindamood Bell are also used for reading and phonics support.
