Dress Up Sunday - Showing Respect For God
The following is an excerpt from Father Andrew’s letter about Dress Up Sunday. It is from the May 3, 2009 bulletin
Dear Parishioners,
Respect is a feeling of admiration; this especially true when it comes to God. Dress Up Sunday is a way of showing respect to God. The first Sunday (Saturday eve included) is set aside as Dress up Sunday. We are asked to come to church dressed nicely. I want to thank all those who are observing this practice. It makes me feel admiration for God when I see others showing him respect in how they dress. I think it is great to see whole families dressed in a way that honors God. There are many side effects. Respect is the greatest.
Please remind each other when it is Dress Up Sunday. Compliment others when we see them dressed up. Please do not scold people. I find that does more harm than good. If you forget when Dress up Sunday is, error on the side of caution and come dressed up any way. We become better for it and showing God respect is feeling of admiration we want to promote.
Sincerely in Christ,
Father Andrew Kemberling
