Join us after the 12:30pm Mass for Confessions, prayers, Benediction and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy at 3:00pm with veneration of the image of Divine Mercy and relic of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska. A punch and cookie reception will follow in McCallin Hall.

A Misguided Division

It’s been interesting for me as a convert to observe the dichotomy in the Catholic Church over “social justice vs. pro-life” parishioners. The serious issues facing our nation at this time in history are not easily ignored—and yet this palpable separation exists. My appeal is ridiculously simple: friends, let’s think this through and realize we’ve got to cement ourselves together against the disintegration of our society. We can boil the arguments down to two phrases: feed the poor and save babies from abortion. But I implore you—the answer is not one or the other.

Tips to be a Better Catholic

The Christmas season is finally over. We have a tension between the spiritual significance of Christmas and the commercial frenzy. Each year the secular nature of the holiday seems to gain ground. The ancient Israelites had the same problem. They had been waiting for about two thousand years for the coming of the Messiah. Of course, we’ve been waiting for almost two thousand years for the return of Jesus. They were surrounded by pagan nations that seemed to be more successful than theirs. We’re surrounded by a secular culture that belittles Christianity as a failed religion.
