High School Youth Program Posts
The U.C.
Summer schedule: 8:15-10:00pm
By the time you're a junior or senior, you're ready to go further, dig deeper, and jump higher into the things that matter most. The U.C. is designed just for upperclassmen and meets on Wednesday nights. It's a smaller, more laid-back group, which is perfect for young people who are older and more mature. We still play games and have fun, but we also look more closely at what it means to be a Christian disciple, and how to build up a faith that thrives, into college and beyond.
Breakaway
Summer hours: Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00pm
Kick-off on June 13th!
All high school youth are invited to come check out Breakaway each Wednesday night. Navigating through high school can be exhilarating, but also overwhelming. School, sports, friends, parents, jobs, homework...and isn't God supposed to fit into that somewhere? Breakaway is a weekly chance to return to the source of all life, relax with friends, have fun, and consider what matters most in the midst of your busy life.
The Spark
All youth authors, poets, and photographers are encouraged to write for The Spark, the youth newsletter of St. Thomas More. The Spark is published as part of the More Informed (the parish newsletter) 6 times per year, so if you write for the Spark, your work will be read by thousands of people! Spark meetings are held every other month, just before Servant Leadership Night. Check the calendars for upcoming Spark meetings, or contact Sue Frank for more information.
Servant Leadership Night
Pope John Paul the Great once said that the young people are not the Church of tomorrow - they're the Church of today. We agree! As a result, student leadership is an important part of youth ministry at St. Thomas More. All high school youth are invited to come to our monthly Servant Leadership Nights, where we work together to plan upcoming ministry events. We meet at 6:00pm, then head to the mall to share dinner together at the Food Court. After our bellies are full, it's time for our brains to work, so we return to STM for brainstorming and planning. We end the night with Dodgeball or another fun game, finishing up at 10:00pm. Check the calendars for upcoming Servant Leadership Night dates. Contact David Tschumper or Sue Frank for more details.
