Welcome to Family Program

The late Pope John Paul II taught that the prime religious educators of a child are their parents. Parents are called upon to implement Christian values in the daily life of their family. The catechist provides information, experience and personal witness which builds upon the initial instructions of the parents. It is through the integration of home and religion class that Christian love can flourish, and therefore, the foundation of Family Program was created.
Family Program is an at-home religious education program, with monthly instructional support for families of all ages! Families will gather following the 8:30am Mass in the large cafeteria, then separate into age-appropriate classrooms for children (ages 4 thru high school) and a speaker-led presentation for parents and older children. The class lasts until 11am. This is not limited to the immediate family – grandparents, aunts and uncles are also invited! Child care is available for toddlers.
Register for Session I or Session II, both occurring typically within the first two weeks of every month. Registration forms are available in the Office of Catechesis (RE Office) and on-line at stthomasmore.org under Faith Formation. Also, please check out the Family Program web page and read about our activities and presentations!

January

In January, Sister Marilyn Carpenter led us through a wonderful understanding of family pilgrimages. She gave us some wonderful insight about labyrinths and making our Lenten journey memorable as a family. She also gave us a challenge...every week during Lent go on a pilgrimage and record your experiences in a journal. I encourage all families to consider this opportunity. If you do, I would love to hear about it, and share your experiences with Sister Marilyn. This week I hope to post a list of local labyrinths.

Sandwich Brigade

Family Program participates in an outreach program called Sandwich Brigade with Samaritan House. Each month sack lunches are created at home, and then delivered by select families. If your family is interested in helping, please call Joanne at 303-770-0531, ext. 4. The sack lunches can be made in increments of 10 or 20.

2010/2011 Registration

Registration for Family Program classes will begin Palm Sunday, the weekend of March 27/28 following all Masses. Please register early to guarantee your family's placement in next year's program. We will also accept applications at that time for Catechists and Office Helpers. Thank you for your interest and participation in Family Program!

December

You are all amazing! I can not tell you how thrilled I am at the response received for the sandwich brigade. We collected a total of 490 lunches for the homeless in December, which brings our total to 970 for the year!!! Wow! Thank you so much to all of you who participated in the program.
In addition, we collected an enormous amount of gently used and new items for the Samaritan House. I will post total numbers soon!
I hope you are all continuing to pray during the Christmas season.
