Welcome to Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Purpose:
To assist the priests and deacons at Mass with distribution of the Body and Blood of Our Lord and to bring Holy Communion to the sick and especially as viaticum to the dying.


Activities:
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist at weekday and weekend parish Masses. They bring communion to the sick, the homebound, hospitals and assisted living facilities especially as viaticum to those in danger of death.


Meetings:
An annual mandatory Morning of Reflection for spiritual growth and ministry updating.

Fall Training for New EMHC

For those who feel called to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, training involves two separate sessions. Attendance at both sessions is required.

Session I: Tuesday, September 20, 7:00–8:30 p.m. or
Saturday, October 1, 8:30–10:00 a.m. in the Church by the Cry Room.
Session II: Saturday, October 15, 8:30–10:30 a.m or
Tuesday, October 18 7:00–9:00 p.m. in the Church by the choir section.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is a holy day of obligation. If you would like to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, the signup sheets are in the Working Sacristy.

Thanksgiving Mass

Sign-up sheets for Thanksgiving Mass

are in the Working Sacristy.

Mandation Blessing

The mandation blessing for the new Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion will be held on the Solemnity of Christ the King, November 20 and 21. The blessing will be given at the Saturday, 5:30 p.m. Mass, Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. Mass and at the LifeTeen Mass at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening. We welcome the new EMs to this ministry. May Our Lord bless them and fill their hearts with joy.

Training for New Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Training to become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion to serve at Mass and for the Ministry of the Sick and Dying will be held in October. You must be 16 years of age or older and have been Confirmed in the Catholic church. Please plan to attend one of each of the two sessions.


Session I
Saturday, October 2 - 8:30–10:00 a.m. or 
Thursday, October 7 - 7:00–8:30 p.m. 
Both sessions will be held in the Cry Room

Holy Week

Sign-up sheets are in the Working Sacristy for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are needed for all services.

New Extraordinary Ministers Training

Dates have been set for training for those who would like to become an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Training involves two separate sessions. Attendance of both sessions is required.
Session I:
Saturday, April 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Cry Room or
Wednesday, April 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Cry Room
Session II:
Thursday, May 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Church by the choir section or
Saturday, May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Church by the choir section
For those EMs who were unable to attend a Remandation Workshop this fall and would like to serve as an EM, you may attend the spring training class. You will then be mandated to serve again at St. Thomas More parish.
