THE FATHERS OF THE CHURCH: - An Introduction to the First Christian Teachers

". . . hold fast to the traditions, just as I handed them on to you." -  1 Corinthians 11:2

The Fathers of the Church are teachers and writers of the early centuries whose teachings are a witness to the Tradition of the Church.  Through Sacred Tradition, the Church transmits all that she herself is, and all that she believes.  The sayings of the holy Fathers show how the riches of this Tradition are poured out in the practice and life of the Church, and in her belief and her prayer.

Come join us as we explore these holy Fathers and their sayings, so we may be better equipped to defend the Faith as we share our faith with those the Lord places in our lives each day.

St. Athanasius (A.D. 360): ". . . let us note that the very tradition, teaching, and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, was preached by the Apostles, and was preserved by the Fathers.  On this was the Church founded; and if anyone departs from this, he neither is nor any longer ought to be called a Christian . . ."
