Session 8: The Return to Paradise

In this session we walk through the Nuptial (i.e. wedding) Mass of the Church as see the deep symbolism contained within it. This Meeting is held in the Church Gym from 6:00 a.m. to 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday mornings.

Symbolism sheds light on a deep and beautiful theology of marriage and the spousal union. Marriage is “the one blessing not washed away by the flood or forfeited by original sin” (Nuptial blessing). This means that marriage originates in Paradise (the the Garden of Eden) and even though we live in a fallen world, we are called to live our marriages as a return to Paradise. This is possible because Christ dwells in the union between husband and wife. As the couple unites themselves to Him, they live the same mystery of Christ on the Cross. They offer their union through and with Christ as a sacrifice of praise.
